I like the details of the 'halo' and the variety of sea life on the head covering. It's a very modern depiction of Jesus' mom, yet still has traditional elements - and I thought it was rather lovely.
This photo might have been taken by National Geographic, but I am not positive. Either way, what a view!
Unfortunately, I do not have the name of the artwork or the name of the artist. If I discover either of these things, I'll add that information (Is the signature 'Pasel'? 'Daoel'? - I can't tell!)
This cake was made by someone I know. Everything was edible - including the pictures! (Well, okay, not the toothpicks). The mascot in front was hand drawn using food coloring pens.
What is so amazing about this is that it is a photo. Not photo-shopped, but just a meticulously arranged photo of a single drop of water reflecting an image behind it.
According to the site I found this piece, the artist is from Taiwan and uses a combination of traditional Chinese brush techniques with modern, Western techniques.
This is chalk street art. Amazing detail! Some of the other pieces are even larger than this one!
Normally I try to credit the maker of a particular piece of art and then link to their website, but in this case, I couldn't find who created the mask or even a site to link to (the place I got this image was a blog talking about going to a costume party with friends and it mentioned antique metal masks... but that was it.
Commentary: All the white dots are nails...and the black? That's a single line of thread woven in and around the nails.
Commentary: I have a soft spot for rabbits because they remind me of 'Watership Down'. This is a watercolor artwork.
Commentary: This is not photoshopped, but an incredible balancing act. The artist finds rocks and carefully sets them together with no glue or other supports.
