Click on the 'Mona Lisa' to be taken to the page filled with Famous Artwork. There you will find questions designed for three levels of student. For elementary age and younger, the questions are designed simply to encourage the child to observe the artwork and report on straight-forward findings (for example, a child is asked to report on the number of windows or to describe a person's clothing). The level beyond (middle) that asks for some beginning analysis (What emotion does the artwork give you?). The final level asks questions that force a student to think about their answer, to consider symbolism, and possibly do some research. Click on the 'Creation of Adam' to be taken to a page that also contains famous artwork, but these pieces might be, for various reasons, questionable / objectionable. They contain the famous nude artwork, or those, like 'Ophelia' that depict uncomfortable subjects. This page is a continuation of the Famous Artwork set, so is presented in the same format. |
Click on 'The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap' by EnigmaSystem to be taken to a 'modern art' gallery. Unlike the previous two galleries, this page does not contain famous art or artists, but rather a collection of simply beautiful, creative, or impressive artwork. The artwork encompasses a huge range of media, styles, and subjects and I feel that exposing children to that kind of variety encourages them to find their own path to expressing their personal artistry. |
